introduced in 2012 by the Department of Electronics and Information Technology
together with the Bureau of Indian Standards. The introduction of the mandatory
registration system obliged manufacturers to register their products before
they were placed on the market.

BIS registration process:
1.
First, the product
sample must be made available to the BIS accredited Indian laboratory for
analysis according to established Indian standards.
2.
Second, upon
receipt of the test report, please submit a request to the Indian Bureau of
Standards using the completed mandatory Form VI which is accompanied by a
laboratory test report, factory documents, from the company.
3.
After reviewing
all submitted documents and information, the Bureau of Indian Standards Registration A certificate will be issued.
